It is common that there are many DIY classes in almost all the kindergartens. Recently, there arises new debate on whether there should be DIY projects in the indoor playground. Some people assert that DIY project will reinforce children’s ability in doing handy jobs, while other people believe that those DIY projects had better be done in classes but not in the crowed and noisy indoor play center. Different people hold different views due to their distinct backgrounds. Therefore, there is not a universal answer to the question. The decision, nevertheless, is not an easy one to make. Actually, the final judgment should rely on case-by-case analysis. As far as I’m concerned, however, I agree that DIY projects should in include in the activities in the indoor play structure.  My view can be greatly subs tainted by the following discussions.

The first argument that can be presented to develop my position is that DIY projects are a relief for kids who felt uneasy after entering the indoor playground for the first time. They are unfamiliar with the people and the whole environment. It hard to get shy kids integrate into the passionate team if there is nothing works as a fender to get the used to the play center little by little. DIY projects are the exact thing to have kids gets familiar with the situation gradually. They can sit down together with other kids and try to make friend with them with the help of the teacher. Once they are tired of the job, they can go to have fun in the indoor play equipment with some of good friends.

In addition, I may be true that kids can’t calm down to finish the task attentively. However, this alone doesn’t constitute support to claim that DIY projects are the attraction to some of the kids. Some kids are born with the patience to finish a handy job; they can sit there quietly the whole afternoon. So in such situation, DIY projects work as a tool to cultivate the interests of some kids, at the same time, they will not have the feeling that life is too quiet or dull, because they can join the kids who are playing in the other part of the indoor kid’s center whenever they want.

In summary, due to the aforementioned reasons, which sometimes correlate with each other to generate an integrated whole, we may be comfortable to say that DIY projects are needed in the indoor playground, because indoor kid playground not only helps to smooth uneasy mood, but can also build up the  interests through game playing.
